The Sensible Way To Handle Stress – Does It Really Work?
There are two popular theories related to stress management. One, the individual is advised to behave in a mature manner and forgive and ignore things that cause of stress. However, this leads to a difficult situation because the object causes stress simply because it cannot be ignored. If the individual had been a position to ignore the thing without any difficulty, perhaps the stress would not have occurred in the first place. Such an approach is like trying to break perspex signs when they have specifically been made to remain unbreakable.

On the other hand, the other theory focuses on acknowledging that stress will take place. This theory suggests that individuals should let go of the stress by simply letting it out of the system. Instead of trying to suppress stress, acknowledge it and give it that the due it deserves. If you are feeling stressed, get a punching bag and give it a good whack. Shout at a person after informing him or her that you are merely getting rid of the stress.
Both solutions have their pros and cons. As far as the former is concerned, it sounds great but is just not practical. More often than not, we end up carrying the stress inside us for many days before finally letting it out. The worst thing about such an approach is that the delay only causes more problems. We end up overreacting to what was originally a minor provocation. We may even end up venting the stress on an individual who is not to blame for the original stress.
This can lead to a situation where we end up apologizing to a third party when the party that offended us has still not sought an apology. In such scenario, giving yourself the space to feel stressed and letting it out of the system can make a huge difference. However, the important thing here is to get rid of the stress after you have had your rant.
